Compare two hypothetical proposals
Illustrative example: two fictional proposals, unrelated to any Extcorp offer or client campaign.
Suppose you request traffic for example.com from Germany on desktop devices, spread across the campaign days. You want a delivery report from the supplier and a Similarweb report for comparison. Volume and calendar dates are the next terms to agree.
| Condition | Hypothetical proposal A | Hypothetical proposal B |
|---|---|---|
| What is offered | Campaign counted in visits; counting rule and volume to agree. | Higher Similarweb traffic figure; campaign volume not stated. |
| GEO | Germany. | Worldwide; Germany not confirmed. |
| Devices | Desktop. | Desktop and mobile web combined. |
| Sources | To discuss. | Direct in Similarweb; delivery method not described. |
| Duration | Fixed campaign window; calendar dates to confirm. | Monthly report; campaign dates not stated. |
| Daily pacing | Across campaign days; daily plan to confirm. | Period total only. |
| Evidence and report period | Delivery report for campaign dates; fields to agree. Similarweb report also requested. | Similarweb screenshot; capture date and filters not stated. |
| Decision before ordering | Confirm counting, source, dates, pacing and report contents. | Request Germany and desktop traffic with campaign terms. |
A matches the requested country and devices. Clarify its remaining terms, and ask B for a revised proposal covering Germany and desktop traffic. Then compare prices.
Establish what exactly is delivered
Ask what the campaign includes and how its volume is counted. For a visit-based offer, confirm how repeat visits are counted. Keep that definition beside the quoted volume so you can compare each supplier’s answer.
List the destination, included work, exclusions and reporting in the proposal. Ask which records will let you check the agreed conditions. A sample report can help: look for campaign dates, country and device fields, then ask how the supplier would produce those figures.
If a reply changes the basis of the quote, return to the original request. You need matching terms before comparing the price per campaign or unit. For a project discussion, see Extcorp’s Similarweb traffic service.
Match the campaign parameters
Compare replies side by side against one version of your request. Record proposed changes beside the relevant condition and ask each supplier to confirm the final version in writing.
GEO and devices
Name the country or required mix of countries. If Germany is essential, ask for Germany explicitly rather than accepting a worldwide total. For several markets, state whether you need a breakdown for each country or one combined campaign total.
Specify desktop, mobile web or the combination you want. Use the same device selection when reviewing Similarweb. A combined total cannot answer a desktop-only question, so resolve any difference before choosing a supplier.
Ask how the proposed reporting will show country and device coverage. Add the website address and any destination pages to the request so both vendors quote work for the same site.
Sources and execution
Ask how the supplier plans to bring traffic to the site and how it will report the source. Distinguish that answer from the channel shown in Similarweb. Direct and Referral are platform categories; a channel label alone does not describe a supplier’s delivery method. What traffic share means.
Keep the source explanation with the proposal. If a supplier suggests changing it during the campaign, ask what changes in the work and reporting before agreeing.
Duration, daily pacing and report period
Record start and end dates, the time zone and the intended distribution across campaign days. Ask whether the proposed schedule is even or variable and how changes will be communicated. Compare the daily plan as well as the total volume.
For reporting, keep three dates clear: the campaign window, the period selected in Similarweb and the date you save the report. A monthly report can include days outside the campaign. Use the traffic-platform comparison to keep those settings together.
If the proposed campaign crosses reporting periods, agree which reports you will review. Save the selected country, devices and metric with each export so the later comparison uses the same settings.
How Extcorp handles these points
Extcorp offers a Similarweb traffic service with scope and terms reviewed for each project. Start with your contact and a short question about your goal. A website address, report name and preferred settings can follow later.
The service page’s ordering questions cover what the offer includes, how the work would be done and what evidence could check the agreed conditions. Use them to explain what matters for your campaign. Free test: 10,000 sessions in 5 days. See the test conditions.
Separate delivery from what Similarweb shows
Check the supplier’s delivery report against the campaign terms. Use Similarweb to follow the site’s traffic estimate for the selected period and filters. Its data methodology combines multiple sources with calibration and predictive models.
Data thresholds and unavailable estimates
Similarweb may withhold a figure when the available data cannot support a reliable estimate. If it shows “Not enough data”, save that message instead of entering zero.
Update lag and the review date
According to Similarweb’s methodology FAQ, monthly data is released by the following month’s tenth day. The daily target is seventy-two hours after the day ends, in fixed EST. New-site coverage also depends on traffic volume and diversity.
Check whether the selected period has been released and whether an estimate is available for your domain. For planning the review, see the hub’s data-availability checks.
Recognize red flags before ordering
Use these points to identify the questions a supplier needs to answer before you place an order:
- A guarantee of a specific Similarweb traffic figure.
- “Direct” as the entire explanation of how the campaign works.
- Broader country or device coverage substituted without your agreement.
- A screenshot with the domain, period, filters or capture date cropped out.
- A missing estimate counted as zero to claim growth.
- A request to increase the order before explaining a gap in the report.
Copy the questions for any vendor
Send your campaign requirements with this checklist. Keep each supplier’s answers alongside the proposal for the final comparison.
Please confirm these points for the proposed campaign:
[ ] What does the campaign include, and how is its volume counted?
[ ] How are repeat visits counted?
[ ] Which destination, countries and devices are included?
[ ] What traffic sources and delivery method does the offer cover?
[ ] What are the start, end and time zone?
[ ] How will traffic be distributed across campaign days?
[ ] What records will let us check each campaign condition?
[ ] Which requested conditions would still need another check?
[ ] What period and fields will the delivery report cover?
[ ] Which Similarweb report, metric and filters will we use?
[ ] When will we review it, and how will missing data be recorded?
[ ] What small test is available, on what terms?
[ ] How are changes, pauses and continuation agreed?
For agency projects, agree who receives the source reports and approves client-facing wording. The White Label service covers the partner discussion.
Start with a small test you can evaluate
Choose one question for the test, such as whether the proposed reporting can confirm the agreed countries and devices. Agree the scope and review date with the supplier.
Write down the campaign settings, reporting and conditions for pausing before launch. Save the starting Similarweb report with its dates and filters. If the estimate is unavailable, retain the message as your starting record.
At review, compare the delivery report with the agreed scope and daily plan. Check Similarweb with the saved settings, then decide what to keep or change for the next campaign. Agree any continuation after discussing those results.
Discuss a Similarweb traffic campaign with Extcorp. Leave your contact and a short question; you can add your website and report later.
